Scripture agrees that we are to fear God. “The fear of God,” “Fear of God,” “Fear the Lord,” and “Fear God” are all used approximately 500 times throughout The Bible. Does Scripture promote Theophobia? It is perplexing because Scripture also says, “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). Is this a paradox, or is Scripture communicating something more profound?
