You were never meant to go through this life alone. Solomon reminds believers to rely entirely on God and acknowledge God in all our ways, and God will direct our paths. God doesn’t intend to direct us like horses or mules, leading a purposeless or uninformed life. Instead, He prefers to guide us like a loving shepherd guides sheep to a safe pasture. Jesus, the Good Shephard, states that God is Spirit, and those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth. Jesus revealed to His disciples that He was leaving them: He told His followers that God would give them another Counselor. The Greek word is ‘parakletos.’ This form of the word means “one called to the side of another.” This Counselor, Guide, or “Paraclete” is God the Holy Spirit. He is a personal being, and He indwells every ardent believer.
